Until now, Salesforce disabled inline editing whenever a list view contained records with different record types, forcing users to filter down to a single record type first. Winter '27 finally lifts that limitation.
Where
Setup, under User Interface: a new checkbox named Make inline edits in list views with multiple record types.
How
Enable the setting and users can double-click and edit field values directly in list views even when the view mixes record types, instead of seeing the lock icon. Before this, the standard workaround was adding a record type filter to every list view that needed inline editing.
Why
This has been one of the most upvoted list view requests on the IdeaExchange for years. Teams working across record types (for example different case or opportunity types in one queue) can now mass-update from the list without duplicating views per record type.
