How
From one page you can turn each merge capability on or off, decide whether duplicate cases are retained or deleted after a merge, set a default status such as Closed or Merged for the duplicates, and jump straight into Duplicate Rules and Matching Rules to tune detection logic.
Why
Admins configuring case merge had to know which of several Setup pages held each toggle. One consolidated surface makes the feature set discoverable and the duplicate-handling policy explicit, which matters for orgs cleaning up high-volume case queues.
